Giving Back Through the Lens

Some sessions stay with you.

Not because of the lighting setup or the perfect catchlight — but because of what's at stake on the other side of the camera.

That's what drew me to Portraits for Patriots.

I've spent 26 years helping professionals show up powerfully in front of the lens. Executives. Business owners. Leaders who understand that how you present yourself matters — that a great portrait isn't vanity, it's strategy. And somewhere along the way, it became clear that this skill I'd spent decades honing wasn't just a business asset.

It was something I could give.

Portraits for Patriots connects volunteer photographers with service members, military spouses, and Gold Star families — providing portfolio-quality portraits, completely free of charge, as they transition into the civilian workforce. These are men and women who gave years — sometimes decades — to something larger than themselves. And when their mission ends, they deserve every tool available to start the next chapter with confidence.

A great headshot is one of those tools.

It's the first impression on LinkedIn. The face that accompanies a résumé. The image that says I am ready. I am capable. I belong here. For someone stepping out of uniform and into an unfamiliar professional landscape, that image carries real weight.

I bring the same intention to every Portraits for Patriots session that I bring to my private clients — thoughtful direction, a calm presence, and the ability to draw out something authentic. Because authenticity isn't just my brand positioning. It's what I believe photography is actually for.

These sessions remind me why I picked up a camera in the first place.

If you're a transitioning service member, a military spouse, or a Gold Star family member in need of professional portraits, I'd be honored to work with you. And if you're a fellow photographer looking for a way to give back — this is it.
