Executive and C-Suite Headshot Photographer
An executive headshot carries more weight than a standard professional photo. It appears in board decks, investor presentations, media features, speaking bios and company websites, often before anyone in the room has met you. At that level, the image needs to communicate authority and approachability at the same time. That's a specific balance and it requires a photographer who understands it.
Nina Pomeroy has been photographing executives and senior leaders across the Tri-Valley and East Bay for 26 years. With 500+ five-star reviews and a specialty focused exclusively on headshots and portraits, sessions are built around producing images that hold up in every professional context not just LinkedIn.
What an Executive Headshot Needs to Do
A strong executive headshot does several things simultaneously. It communicates that you take your position seriously. It projects confidence without being unapproachable. It looks current not like a photo from five years ago or a different chapter of your career.
For C-suite leaders, board members and senior executives, the headshot also needs to work across a wider range of contexts than most professionals deal with. The same image may appear on a company website, in a press release, on a conference speaker page, in a pitch deck and on LinkedIn, often at very different sizes and in very different visual contexts. That range affects how the session is approached.
Before the Camera Comes Out
Every executive session begins with a conversation. Where will these images be used? What impression do you want to make on the specific audiences who will see them? Is this for a board-facing context, a media profile, a rebrand or a new role?
The answers shape everything wardrobe direction, background choice, expression coaching and framing. An executive at a biotech firm at Hacienda Business Park needs a slightly different result than a financial advisor in Walnut Creek or a tech founder in San Ramon. The session is built around your specific context, not a generic formula.
What to Wear for Executive Headshots
At the executive level, wardrobe signals matter. A few principles that consistently produce strong results:
A well-fitted suit or blazer in navy, charcoal or dark gray - classic choices that read as authoritative across every industry
Solid colors over patterns --busy prints and bold stripes draw attention away from your face
Quality fabric - the camera picks up texture and quality in ways that matter at this level
Bring 2 to 3 options -variety across your gallery gives you the right image for every use case
If your organization has brand guidelines that apply to leadership photography, bring those details to the session.
What to Expect
Before Your Session A detailed prep guide is sent with your booking confirmation. For executive sessions, Nina also takes time before the session to understand the specific professional context and where the images will be used.
During Your Session Sessions run approximately 60 minutes. Direction is provided throughout specific guidance on posture, expression and framing so the results look natural and authoritative rather than stiff or posed. Most executives are surprised by how efficient and comfortable the process is.
After Your Session Your fully retouched images are delivered through a private online gallery. All purchased images include professional retouching and full-resolution files optimized for both print and digital use.
Executive Team and Board Portrait Sessions
For organizations that need consistent headshots across a leadership team or board, coordinated sessions are available. Studio sessions work well for smaller groups. On-location sessions at your Tri-Valley or East Bay office are available for teams of 10 or more, scheduled at approximately 15 to 20 minutes per person.
Consistent lighting, backgrounds and retouching across the full team produces a cohesive result that reflects well on the organization.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes an executive headshot different from a standard professional headshot? The context is broader and the stakes are higher. Executive images appear in more high-visibility locations: board presentations, media features, investor materials and need to hold up across all of them. The session is planned specifically around those uses.
Should I wear a suit? For most C-suite and board-level executives, a well-fitted suit or blazer is the right call. It signals authority and professionalism across every context where the image will appear. Bring options and Nina will advise on what reads best for your specific situation.
Do you photograph leadership teams? Yes. Coordinated team sessions are available for leadership groups of any size, either at the studio in Pleasanton or on-location at your office for teams of 10 or more.
How long does a session take? Most individual sessions run 60 minutes with time for wardrobe changes.
