Magazine Press | Art from the Heart

I have always been an animal lover. So when I received a volunteer assignment for Wilton Magazine's article on Art from the Heart- A mission to empty pet shelters everywhere, I was thrilled!

The assignment was to photograph the cats at Animals in Distress, a local cat shelter in Wilton Connecticut. Short of having a fur-ever home, this place is so welcoming and cozy for all the cats who get to dwell there before their adoptions. So many cat trees, cozy beds, not to mention, food and treats! I photographed almost all the cats but one orange tabby really caught my eye. His name was Edward. He has beautiful green eyes and was very friendly, affectionate and curious about my camera. If I didn't already have a senior-citizen-cat at home, I would have scooped him right up. My husband even warned me not to bring the cat carrier with me before I headed over there that day.

I knew he would make a great companion. And sure enough, he was adopted this past weekend! It warmed my heart to know that my very small part may have had something to do with his adoption. Please consider stopping by Animals in Distress some weekend afternoon and visit the cats. Even if you're not sure about adoption, I'm sure they'd love someone to visit and play with for a little while.
